RAY BLK DOING ME

BBC’s Sound of 2017 and Stormzy associate RAY BLK encourages listeners to let go of vanity and prejudice in relation to external experience. Backed by bouncy, old school beats and joyful keys, what Londoner Rita Ekwere really does is to state the obvious (or at least what should be obvious) to the haters. Amongst all the examples of RAY BLK’s wardrobe, we particularly love the line, “my dressing is expression so don’t judge me by my clothes.” It’s her most poppy, feel-good track to date with its beauty in simplicity and perfectly well-timed as a follow up to the victory song ‘Patience’ and just ahead of the UK summer season. You can already imagine the placement of ‘Doing Me’ across many summer playlists, with excitable fans singing along to that incredibly catchy chorus “I’m just doing me, I’m just doing me, me, me, me. Why don’t you do you? That’s what you should do, do, do, do.” - HT
